Kicking off New Study on Enhancing Outdoor Recreation Opportunities: Seeking Study Group Volunteers!
Contact: Mary Campbell
Community Council announces its new study topic, Enhancing Outdoor Recreation Opportunities. We invite you to participate in a series of conversations devoted to understanding the issues and providing solutions that enhance the social, economic, and environmental spheres related to strong outdoor recreation access, programs, and opportunities.
Community Council studies are comprised of community volunteers who learn about the chosen topic and recommend solutions. Each study depends on bringing together volunteers from the community to create meaningful change.
This study’s Chair, Adam Kirtley, encourages area members to join the study, stating, “Outdoor recreation touches all segments of our community, and I hope the committee that studies it will have broad interests—as diverse as the activities themselves. I encourage everyone to join this conversation.”
Examples of topics that will be presented include understanding outdoor recreation opportunities available in this region, barriers to outdoor recreation, opportunities associated with healthy outdoor recreation programs, and lessons from other communities who have implemented their own outdoor recreation plans in their areas.
The first study meeting is September 16 at the YWCA located at 213 South 1st Avenue, Walla Walla, 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. If you know of people who would be interested in joining this study group, please give them this information.
